The Study On NanLing MuLian Drama

As a religious drama, Nanling Mulian opera used to be popular in local area, eapecially in XuZhen and YiJiang town, and also widely spread to the surrounding area of Nanling. The main story is MuLian saving his mother, which also interspersed with some historical and folk stories. MuLian drama became localization gradually after spreading to Nanling, and it successfully satisfied the people’s spiritual needs, covey people’s thought, and occupies an important position in people’s life. With the development of society, people’s life changes a lot, Mulian drama suffered the cold winter and gradually fading out of vision. Nevertheless, it still remains literature, theater studies, musicology and folklore and other disciplines research value.The paper contains four chapters. The first chapter introduces the basis information about Mulian drama and Nanling Mulian’s origin, the status and value. The second chapter make a detailed analysis of Nanling’s local cultural context. The third chapter analysis Nanling Mulian’s feature from different dimensions. And last chapter lists the difficulties Nanling Mulian faced with and provide ideas for its future development. The appendix including Nanling Mulian’s stage picture, the fieldwork materials, text, tropes, artists and so on.The passage based on the local culturalbackground, dive into the reason for Mulian’s introduction, the life -style people relied on and so on,try to explore local cultural face and make suggestion for Mulian’s future.
