Shiying Mu and Riichi Yokomitsu are vital representatives of Neo-sensationalist in China and Japan. Riichi Yokomistu is outstanding in Japan just as Shiying Mu is remarkable in China. Because of the common in form and style, Shiying Mu was called by the scholars at that time and still called the Riichi Yokomitsu of China. People are likely to agree this saying at first glimpse. The form of work is indeed in common, but the theme and symbols are of significant difference. Moreover, as for the form of work, Riichi Yokomitsu and Shiying Mu have different emphases. Riichi pays attention to conveying emotions, while Shiying focuses on bringing new forms.This paper falls into five parts. This first part is introduction, briefly talking about the reason why choose this topic and other scholars’research about the Riichi Yokomitsu and Shiyin Mu. The second part analyzes the backgrounds, translations of Riichi Yokomitsu’s works in China and selective acceptances by Shiyin Mu. The third part presents the huge differences in spirits reflected in various topics, such as urban, love and marriage, Proletarian Literature. The fourth part compares the application of symbolism in their works, further revealing the wide differences and analyzing the causes. The fifth part discusses the dissimilation in languages, the application of repetition, and the constructive narrative based on specific works, pointing out the seeming similarities and spiritual distinctions which are subtle but far-reaching, and describing the innovation in form by Shiying Mu.The thesis works on the neo-sensationalist literature of Riichi Yokomitsu and Shiying Mu, researching and comparing of specific works, listing the similarities and distinctions, clarifying the underlying reasons, and comparing of sino-Japan neo-sensationalist literature from novels of Riichi Yokomitsu and Shiying Mu, perfecting and deepening the comparative study regarding this topic.
