The rapid development of mobile Internet, the popularization of smart handheld terminal equipment, and the enrichment of learning resources make mobile micro learning as a new learning mode have full development conditions. Under the impetus of the "Internet+" action plan, Internet education industry is in the process of vigorous development and the combination of technology and education has become an inevitable trend. As an important content of college students’English learning, English vocabulary learned by mobile micro learning is becoming more and more common in the actual learning process. Therefore, the investigation of college English vocabulary learning by mobile micro learning has theoretical and practical significance for improving the learning effect and meeting the needs of learners much better.First of all, this paper makes a brief review of the relevant research status and theory of English vocabulary mobile micro learning at home and abroad by means of literature survey. At the same time, the paper makes a brief analysis and comparison on the main function of current popular English vocabulary learning software. Based on that research, the paper makes a comprehensive analysis on the feasibility of college students’vocabulary mobile micro learning, environment, characteristics of mobile learning, characteristics of vocabulary learning and college students’learning style, which carries out a certain basis for subsequent research.Then, through the questionnaire to research the current situation of college students’mobile micro learning, to investigate students’concrete mode of preference about English vocabulary mobile micro learning in aspects of learning form, time, duration, frequency and present form of knowledge, and to make a detailed statistical analysis according to the result of the questionnaire. The research aims to truly know learners’demands of vocabulary mobile micro learning and provide a reference for the development of relevant software.Finally, through the comparative experiment to explore the different learning effects between using mobile learning software and using the paper lists of vocabulary in pronunciation, English-Chinese translation, Chinese-English translation and grammar. By the analysis of experimental results, using application software is superior to using the traditional paper word list in terms of word pronunciation, English-Chinese translation and grammar learning effect. And there is no significant difference between the two ways of learning in terms of Chinese-English translation. But on the whole, the effect of mobile micro learning in English vocabulary is better than that of traditional learning. Next, according to the participants’ experience and by the questionnaire survey, the paper summarizes learners’ suggestions for improving English vocabulary mobile micro learning.
