The thesis is based on the translation analysis of "Never Give up" ——the study on the translation strategy of autobiographical non-fiction literature, attempts from the perspective of German functional translation theory, with the Chinese edition translated by Chinese contemporary writer Yerkesy of the autobiographical non-fiction literature "Never Give up" by Niemat·Kellembetof, the academician from the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences as study object. At present there is very little study on the translation of autobiographical non-fiction literature domestically. The monograph "Never Give up" can be divided into two parts. Part one reproduces the writer’s memory and thoughts with documentary approach before his surgery. Part two is composed of letters of Kazakhstan history, culture and customs for his son who studies abroad by the writer.Referring to the monograph and its translation, the intonation varies and the content is extremely rich. Thus, the thesis selects typical translation problems as the key point to study, including the translation of the culture-loaded words, the study on the paradigm type of translation of non-fiction literature in the Kazakhstan literature, the translation of non-fiction literature under functionalism and the analysis of the translation strategies used by the writer. This thesis basically attempts from the perspective of functional translation, selects corpus from the monograph and its Chinese edition to analyze, makes comparisons as well as summarizes the translation strategies used by the writer. With all these as the base of the thesis, it further discusses the problems of translation of relating literary with a small focus revealing great science. This thesis consists of four parts including preface, text, conclusion and reference literature. The introduction part explains the reasons why the writer chooses this topic, the present study, significance, studying method, and the theoretical basis of this thesis- functional translation theory. The focuses are on Fermi’s Skopos theory of functional translation theory, Nord’s literature translation method and instrumental translation method etc.The body contains three parts. 1. the first part mainly includes the second chapter and the third chapter, introduces the writer, the translator, summarizes the main contents of the text, and expounds the relationship between the the text and the functional translation theory. The second part mainly includes the fourth chapter and the fifth chapter, which analyzes the translation phenomenon of the Chinese edition of "Never Give up" with Nord’s literature translation method and instrumental translation method, selects the corpus and makes classification, and analyzes the examples, summarizes the writer’s translation strategies and rediscovery after the translation. The thesis makes a detailed interpretation of the relationship between the theory and the text, and makes evaluation. The third part is the sixth chapter, which is based on the above two parts, is the key of this thesis. This chapter combines the problems of the paradigm translation of "Never Give up" with the current translation theory. In the conclusion part, the author summarizes his point of view, concludes the translating methods and skills used in "Never Give up", illuminates translation strategies of the autobiographical non-fiction literature, and then puts forward the problems of translating autobiographical non-fiction literature. Meanwhile, the author sorts out the content of the previous parts, and makes a brief summary on the writing process, the innovation and disadvantages of the thesis etc.
