In recent years, with the accelerated pace of cross strait exchanges, more and more attention has been paid to the comparison of the dictionaries on both sides.Vocabulary is the most active factor in the language, and the differences on both sides of the Chinese language are mainly reflected in the vocabulary.In today’s society ruled by law, people’s legal consciousness is getting stronger and stronger, using law to regulate and restrain the society and their behavior has become the trend of the times, legal terms have gradually become an important part of the modern social language. This thesis will compare and analyse the legal terms from the aspects of word collection and interpretation of New Chinese Daily Dictionary and Modern Chinese Dictionary(6th Edition),we also analyse the advantages and disadvantages of the two dictionaries,aiming at providing constructive suggestions for the compilation of the common Chinese dictionary.This thesis is divided into five chapters.The contents of each chapter are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction. This chapter mainly introduces the research background, research methods, research materials, theoretical basis, research value and relevant legal terms reviews.The second chapter is the comparative study of Chinese legal terms collection on both sides. In this chapter, we will make a comparative analysis of the legal terms in two Chinese dictionaries from three aspects.The first are the one side unique legal terms.The second are the legal terms which have the same name but of the different meanings, including the complete legal terms and part different meaning legal terms.The third are the legal terms with different appearances but of the same essence,we divide them into six categories according to the theory of word creation,respectively is:(1) the inverse morphemes legal terms;(2) the legal terms constituted with synonymous morphemes(words);(3) legal terms focus on the different points;(4)some legal terms form different abbreviations;(5) legal terms with different styles and colors;(6) legal terms of different translations.The third chapter is the comparative study of the legal terms in the two Chinesedictionaries. The first starts from the monosyllabic legal terms whose meanings are multivocal, and can be divided into two categories:(1) the unique items;(2) the meanings of the resolution. The second is using semantic bridge theory to compare and analyse the legal terms whose meanings are multivocal,from nominal legal terms,verb type legal terms, noun type turns verb type(or verb type turns noun type) legal terms, verb type turns adjective type(or adjective type turns verb type) legal terms and noun type turns adjective type(or adjective type turns noun type) legal terms,in total five aspects are compared. The third is comparing the legal terms of same form in the two Chinese dictionaries.The fourth chapter is the comparative analysis of the specialized interpretation factors of the legal terms in the cross strait Chinese dictionaries. Mainly focuses on the use of the specialized interpretation factors of the legal terms in the two Chinese dictionaries,and compare and analyse the interpretation carrier of the relevant legal terms.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part.Mainly summarizes the relevant research of this theies. At the same time, the reasons for the differences of legal terms in the two dictionaries are analyzed, we also point out the shortcomings of the study.The innovation of this thesis is the comparative analysis of the legal terms in the two representative Chinese dictionaries on both sides.At the same time, the legal terms on both sides are compared and analyzed by using the theory of word creation,semantic bridge theory and the theory of the specialized interpretation factors.
