Note novels of Tang Dynasty enrich the literature of the Tang Dynasty, and it is an important carrier of the literary thought of the Tang Dynasty’s literature. Note novels are characterized by shorter in length and multifarious contents, but writers take notes just like historians record histories, the contents of novels mainly based on social reality at the time. The note novels of Tang Dynasty reflect the features of each class and stage about the Tang Dynasty, its high literary value. As local religion of China, Taoism originated from Lao-Zi’s The Classic of the Virtue. The Tang Dynasty rulers expressly for its ancestor, Lao-Zi, advocate the religions Taoism becoming the state religion. The rich ideological content was implied in note novels of Tang Dynasty. It is necessary to research Taoism culture in note novels of Tang Dynasty.This paper has discussed Taoism culture in note novels of Tang Dynasty from four aspects. The first chapter, researched Taoism view of writers in chapter one from different aspects:writers’ rational attitude, writers’ and the Taoist belief complex, reflect the social reality, keeping with this background. In chapter two, according to Taoism content, this paper classify note novels of Tang Dynasty, including immortality, saving society and the people, encountering immortal. In the third chapter, explore the evolution of Taoism status thought in the note novels of Tang political background from three stages:early Tang, prosperous Tang, middle and late Tang. In the chapter four, this paper study the reflection of Taoism in Folk Customs about notes novels from the Taoist magic arts, Taoist festival customs and Taoist fairy, explore the embodiment of note novels in the folk customs.
