Shanghai was once the important center of politics, economic and culture of the Republic of China. Shanghai had developed philanthropy. In the Republic of China, Shanghai had a lot of charitable organizations, which organized many activities. These organizations had a high degree of information disclosure. Shanghai citizens had a certain sense of charity. They contributed very actively and enthusiastically. Charitable activities in shanghai were rich, diverse, intricate and open.During the Jiangsu-Zhejiang war, Shanghai’s charitable organizations played a humanitarian spirit, they treated the wounded, housed refugees, organized donations. These organizations actively cooperated with each other. The fellow organizations actively contacted the village and rescued fellow. They played an important role in transporting, resettling and rescuing fellow refugees. Many organizations set up temporary agencies, and actively participated in the asylum and relief work. Some other noncharitable organizations such as the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce and Shanghai Student Association were also actively involved. To rescue workers on strike in the May 30 Movement, all social circles, which including students, workers, businessmen, overseas Chinese, politicians, various organizations, and party organizations like Communist Party of China and Chinese Nationalist Party, actively donated. These people and organizations rescue workers on strike in the May 30 Movement were not purely charitable activities. They all had their own purposes. Even so, the funds and materials they raised actually played a positive role in continuing the strike and keeping the lives of the striking workers. The public awareness of information disclosure of these charitable organizations in Shanghai was very strong. Usually, they made full use of the convenience of newspapers and periodicals to publish their own charity information to increase public concerns. In the process of charitable assistance in major events, they from time to time published work progress and the daily income and expenditures and other information in the major newspapers and periodicals, so that the public would be able to understand the development of the situation and the situation of charity relief in time. On the one hand, this is conducive to further improve the credibility of the charitable organizations themselves. On the other hand, it also makes the public more assured of the use of money than before, and provide favorable conditions for raise money in the future. All of these are worth our current charitable organizations and institutions to learn.
