Xu Zechen is an important contemporary literary novelist.He finds out the puzzle of "Beijing drift" relying on his novel about outlanders living in Beijing.In the series of "Flower" novels,he shows the feelings and suffering of the homeland.The lengthy masterpiece "Jerusalem" shows the experience of a generation,ideals,and anxiety.He writes the novel for the "spiritual difficult" of the era and his novels enrich the spirit construction of contemporary fiction.This paper mainly researches Xu’s "Beijing drift" novels, "Flower street" novels and "Jerusalem".With the text reading way,showing the subject matter of Xu Zechen’s novel,trying to discuss the methods how he reveals his thoughts about human’s mental anxiety, spiritual dilemma and the ways of breakthrough through his novels.This paper is divided into three chapters.Part One discusses outlanders living in Beijing, mainly researching human’s material predicament and mental anxiety when people run away from home through the analyzing of the anxiety of marginalized identity, the losing of emotional appeal, and the contradiction between the ideal and the reality.Part Two analyzes homeland’s human feelings and realities and human’s inside, in order to describe the material predicament and mental anxiety which hometown’s people are faced with.Part Three focuses on generation’s spirit world and self redemption through his work: "Jerusalem".
