In the recent period of time, with the need of frequent communications with people in English-speaking countries, the ability of colloquial English in foreign language teaching has been paid much attention, and has been placed much emphasis on how to improve it, however, the standard written English has been a lack of. concerning and modifications. Some informal features of expressions included in oral English are called colloquialism, which are supposed to be inappropriate when they are used in written form. The relevant studies at home and abroad show that most Chinese EFL learners’ written English appears the colloquial tendency and colloquialism in written English has become one of the prominent features of interlanguage of Chinese EFL learners’ written English.This thesis is intended to make a data-based analysis and summaries of the colloquial features of written English of Chinese EFL learners.It will make full use of written corpora at home and abroad, and make the reference of theory of interlanguage and depend on the corpora approach and contrastive analysis to find out the colloquial features of written English of Chinese EFL learners in different respects which include the lexical, syntactic, and discourse aspects, and also make great efforts to analyze the reasons above. This thesis is also designed to give some implications for Chinese English language teaching.The results show that there is obvious colloquial tendency in Chinese EFL learners’ writing no matter how different their proficiency is. Colloquial features mainly exist in the lexical and syntactic aspects which show higher frequency, especially in the use of contractions, modal auxiliaries and personal pronouns and shows low lexical density. At last, due to the lack of writing instructions and references before writing, and positive feedback and modifications after writing, it has the negative effect on constructing high qualified writings by Chinese EFL learners.
