Andrew Wyeth is a famous contemporary American realist painter.Wyeth’s creative materials are almost from Chadds Ford Townshi. Pennsylvania and Gushing nearby. Maine. Wyeth has almost never left these two small places all his life which are several away from Atlantic. In fact, everyone has a special feeling about his hometown, and everyone has a deep love of their hometown. Precisely because of this feeling of home, Wyeth produce the dedication and passion to the creation of local theme. His deep love to the local theme makes viewers have the same reaction to Andrew Wyeth.To inquiry Wyeth’s portrait emotional appeal is the central point of this paper. His characters are based on his neighbors or his interested people. Through the studying of Wyeth’s style of art watercolor paintings and the choice of subject, the writer analyzes deep feelings and artistic appeal behind Wyeth’s watercolor figure painting. This paper is divided into four sections:the first section is introduction, and the main purpose of it is to analyze the reason of choosing topic and research status. The second section is to elaborate and research the style of Wyeth’s watercolor figure paintings. The third section is through Wyeth’s choice of subject matter, the combination of the skills and the picture, to analyze the exhibited or implied emotional appeal. And the fourth section is to study the influence on the Wyeth’s water painting figure to the Chinese water color figure, mainly reflect the pursuit of the thoughts and feeling, mood and emotion.
