Trigger step which stems from the Bermingham school, is that the classroom communication is usually formed by the teacher’s initiation,the response of the students and the feedback of the teacher. But through classroom observation, We find that the communication in the classroom is not entirely caused by the teacher, but also by students, and the conversational structure initiated by student is similar to the IRF discourse model.The research object of this paper is junior middle and senior class students, studying in Confucius Institute At Baku State University. Due to the limit of the number of students, class and other objective conditions, we only select seven teachers, eight classes, a total of ten Chinese comprehensive course for observation. The seven teachers, four are experienced overseas Chinese full-time teachers, familiar with the teaching in Confucius Institute, three are volunteers or young interns, just stepping into the platform for less than a year.In this paper, we use the conversation analysis theory of Bermingham School to explore the situation about students’ initiation, mainly solve three problems as follows:First of all, Compared with the teacher centered IRF model, what is the characteristic of the classroom discourse model initiated by student? And then, what’s the exact difference among the functionary types of students’ Initiation、the functionary types of teacher’ Initiation、the functionary types of daily conversation? Lastly,what’s the obvious characteristics of students’Initiation?In view of these three problems, we adopt the method of classroom observation, questionnaire investigation, altogether select ten different level of Chinese classes audio recording, and combine with some research achievement at home and abroad. After doing transcription of ten different level Chinese classes audio recordings quantitative statistics and some correlative analysis, we have summed up the following conclusions:(1) Through classroom observation and data analysis, we conclude 8 models about the discourse initiated by student in Chinese comprehensive course:IRF、I(R)、 I(R)F、I(F)R、I1R1I2R2...InRnF、IS1IS2IS3RF、ISITRF. ISITRSF.(2)The type of students’Initiation is mainly inquiring category, with supplement category in the next place. Statement category may appear in middle and advanced classroom, in addition to those, we rarely find other categories which may be very common in our daily life. And statement trigger mainly services for the entire trigger, few likes inquiring trigger, supplementary trigger, which can independently burden the trigger function.(3) The students’ Initiation about have three characteristics:mainly ask question; the Initiation is followed by students’ pre-Initiation; Also, the student rarely follow up what the teachers have responded.At the end of this paper, we give some teaching suggestions, for example, teachers should give a certain discourse right to the students, weakening their center position, creating the conditions and environment conducive to the students to carry out the classroom, highlighting the main status of student.
