In the process of the development of Chinese painting, the inheritance and innovation is an eternal topic. In painting the chain of development, it is because of painters constantly learning and absorbing predecessors’ achievements, and combined with the aesthetic requirement of innovation, therefore, the development of painting interlocking, inheritance and innovation throughout. Any outstanding painter, his work to present a new view, not only inheriting predecessors’ excellent achievements, and with the development of The Times, explore the new painting language, and have influence on painting after development.Eagle subjects as one of the subject of Chinese flower-and-bird paintings often depicted, is enjoyed by many letters. In this paper, the eagle theme paintings as the breakthrough point, with eight big mountain man with Lin Liang as the research object, to explore the art of composition between the two layout, body shaping, pen and ink performance and so on the correlation and difference of some aspects, and combining the era background, upbringing, and so on to explore and analyze the causes of such differences, and combining previous paintings, find for both inheritance and innovation of predecessors’ achievements. Further elaborates the influence on the later eagle genre painting, and enlightens us in the future learning process, how to correctly treat the relationship between inheritance and development, and provide the possibility for me after flower and-bird painting creation.
