The Orthodox School Of Chinese Literati Painting

This paper is based on the investigation of Dong Chi’chung’s theory of north school and south school. By backtracking the history of Chinese literati painting and the situation of the early Ming-Dynasty intellectual thought to introduce the historical environment of the formation of the theory of north school and south school. Further Research into the formation and meaning of Dong Chi ’chung’ thought of the theory of north school and south school. Thereby deriving the effects of the theory of north school and south school as an Orthodox group for the concept of orthodox school of literati painting. In the main part, the author focuses on the specific content of artistic thought of Dong Chi’chung, including the concept of pen and ink, the taste of ancient division, scholars pastime and achieve life pursuit by drawing and so on. Next, the author through the further investigate the effects of literati painting as authentic view Dong Chi’chung thought to posterity, restore the historical formation of the concept of orthodox school of the literati painting.
