China’s fifth census in 2000, more than 60 elderly population reached 129.98 million people, accounting for 10.5% of the total population, our country has entered an aging society. In the past ten years, the annual population growth rate of only 0.92, while 2.97% of average annual growth rate in the elderly, elderly population growth rate reached 2.5 times of growth rate of population size. Both in elderly population growth and the proportion of more than the world average. Focus on the physical and mental health of the elderly and take concrete and effective measures to improve their psychological health, improve their subjective well-being, is their needs, is also the family needs, but also the demand of social harmony. Early in 2016 on the national work conference on elderly, xi jinping, general secretary of strengthen the old-age work made important instructions, in the face of reality, ageing effectively cope with an ageing population, is a matter of national development of the country, is a matter of well-being of hundreds of millions of people. And to emphasize let old people get real benefit, tangible to increase access to feeling, happiness. Square dancing as a sport which is quite popular with old people in recent years, is the combination of aerobic exercise and dance, with the characteristics of easy operation, less open conditions become one of the most popular with older people exercise program.This research through the square dance exercise on the psychological effects caused by urban elderly, their effects on mental health, and impact on subjective well-being. Research USES the literature material law, questionnaire survey method, experimental method and other research methods, by the self-assessment lists of symptom- SCL90, the general well-being scale- GWB on subjects of psychological health, happiness before and after the experiment of testing; Using Korea inbody 220 body composition analyzer, soft tape for subjects before and after the experiment of measuring body composition and physical form. Conclusions are as follows:(1) through the questionnaire survey, the square dance exercise of the elderly is given priority to with women, and the senior high school degree number proportion is the largest, every time 30 to 60 minutes of exercise number proportion is the largest, most exercise three to six times a week. And by issuing the self-assessment lists of symptom- SCL90, general well-being scale- GWB questionnaire, came to the conclusion that square dance exercise of the elderly, the level of mental health and subjective well-being is higher than other forms of exercise of the elderly and the elderly don’t exercise.(2) after the experiment concluded that the square dance exercise groups divide the symptom self-assessment scale- SCL90 factors decreased significantly, the level of mental health has improved significantly; The general well-being scale(GWB) score significantly increased, significantly higher overall level of happiness.(3) the use of body composition and soft tape measure before and after the experiment, the conclusion, the square dance exercise groups in body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, fat four indexes have dropped significantly, forearm, thigh circumference, calf circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio index has dropped significantly. Body composition and physical form have improved significantly.(4) the body composition and no correlation between mental health and subjective well-being.
