Du Fu lived in many places during his lifetime, so his life could be recognised as a wandering life. At the age of 19 to 33, Du Fu lived in Luoyang and traveled around countries of Wu, Yue, Qi and Zhao. In the following decade, Du Fu wandered in Chang’an. After the outbreaking of An-shi Rebellion, Du Fu was busy running around Fengxian, Fuzhou, Chang’an, Fengxiang and Huazhou. In the second year of QianYuan, Du Fu left Huazhou to Qinzhou and then lived in Tonggu in the autumn, and he got a little consolation when he moved to Chengdu in the winter. After that,Du Fu had been living in Sichuan province until his 53. During his years of 53 to 56,Du Fu lived in Kuizhou. Then, he drifted in Hunan for a few years and died at the age of 58 during his travel.Du Fu had been to many places in his life, but he had to get financal support from others because of the lack of ways of making money. He also relied on the sale of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as farming to live his life. In the relatively peaceful moments of the society, Du Fu even planted vegetables and medical herbs, and he also raise chickens and pigs for living. When investigating the poetry of Du Fu,we found that the staple food he eat were mainly rice, wheat flour, yams and taros, and the vegetables of his diet were water shield, common vetch, okras, goosefoots, beans, scallions, fiddleheads, lotus roots, amaranths, bamboo shoots, leeks, celeries, lettuces, grasswort, purslanes and melilim, and meat diet were chickens, pigs and fishes. Du Fu was suffering from malaria, diabetes disease, lung disease, and wind arthralgia during his entire life. He got sick because of his stavation, bibulosity, and depression. The people that Du Fu usually contact with were family members, relatives, and his superiors, colleagues, neighbors etc.The life of Du Fu lasted through the transition from the Flourishing Tang to the Mid-Tang Dynasty. As a typical scholar lived during the An-shi Rebellion, the daily life of Du Fu was quite different from the officers and scholars in Zhenyuan-Changqing, such as Han Yu’s life. The main reasons for his situation werethe the intensification of social contradiction before the An-shi Rebellion and the social turbulence after the war. Du Fu, who was born in such social environment, had to live a tragic life under the macro social background. In addition, Du Fu’s poverty was connected with his romantic and extremely frivolous characters, as well as his lazy and rambling living habits. These factors formed his difficult and frustrated situation life together.
