The murals in coffin chambers of Tang Dynasty in Xi'an are the classic works compared with those of other dynasties in China. This thesis is a historical record of the life embodied in the realistic theme and painting techniques of the murals in coffin chambers of Tang Dynasty excavated in Xi'an. The analysis of the concept of 'Dissolving the art into life' in the context of ancient Chinese culture from the perspective of art development has trans-era realistic meaning. Tang Dynasty is the most prosperous era in Chinese feudal society and also the most powerful and civilized dynasty in the world. It was that flourishing and open age that gave birth to vigorous national spirits and heroic lofty quality of that period, which contributed to the enduring artistic fascination of murals in coffin chambers of Tang Dynasty. Those murals of Tang Dynasty are rich in content, superb in techniques and elegant in style. Either honor guards, buildings and Lieji (a whole set of ancient Chinese weapons), or scenes that reflect the lives of aristocrats such as polo, dance accompanied by music, and maids of honor, hunting etc. all of them are full of the admiration of the nature and reflect the humanitarianism in Tang civilization. The thesis will analyze the taste of beauty and the concept of 'Dissolving the art into life' that have trans-era meaning from three perspectives. Part I:First of all, this section explains the concept of 'Dissolving the art into life'. Then, it describes how the concept of 'Dissolving the art into life' came into being by exploring the facts that people in Tang Dynasty were sentimentally attached to realistic life and they tried to break the line between the survival and death in order to extend realistic life into the world of death, and tried to find out the...
