The goal of Teaching Chinese as a second language is to cultivate students’ ability of using correct Chinese for communication. Adjectives occupy important position in the word, have an important stage in Teaching Chinese as a second language. As we all know, besides the basic rational significance, adjectives also have some color meaning, which can affect the appropriateness of communication,and even produce errors and conflicts. However, from the compilation of the teaching materials to the actual class teaching, Teaching Chinese as a second language only pays attention to the rational meaning of words,but it rarely involves the color meaning, which will affect the students’ Chinese level and daily communication. In order to solve the problems of international students in the aspect of adjectives’ color meaning better.The author, from the perspective of adjectives’ color meaning, saw the students whose mother language is English and Chinese level is intermediate as the object,used the adjectives of <Developing Chinese·Intermediate Comprehensive Course> and <Experiencing Chinese·International Course> as research materials, studied the connotation, classification and reflection in teaching materials of adjectives’ color meaning.And combined with the corpus from dynamic HSK corpus, the author analysed the errors of adjectives’ color meaning and the reasons of the errors. Combined with the traits of the adjectives’ color meanings and the classification about words in the academia,the author classified the adjectives’ color meanings into three categories: the emotion color, the style color and the figurative color. Based on three characteristics of the three categories, the author classified every color meaning into more detailed categories. In order to help students understand the adjectives’ various color meanings. While analysing the error reasons of the adjectives’ color meanings,the author studied from the perspective of the Ontology research of vocabulary color meaning,teaching and learning problems in the teaching process,curriculum and materials.And put forward some relevant countermeasures and suggestions.
