Cartesian dualism is an integrated component of dualism, or to say Cartesian dualism is an important process in the history of dualism. Contemporary dualism represents one of the trends in the development of modern western philosophy of mind. Property dualism which discusses the attributes of consciousness is the most common form in the development of contemporary dualism. But the schema of substance dualism still have consideration about substantial ontology. So there is a difference between the kinds of dualism, not only that, they each have internal differences and diversification. But whatever the differences in content, the discussion topic is still inseparable from three parts, that is the spiritual entity(mental state in the framework of property dualism),the physical body and the mind-body relationship. However the contents of these parts as early as Cartesian thought has been involved, just with the development of times, the in-depth development of philosophical theory allows us to the shortcomings of Cartesian theory about these three parts. But we should see there are still a lot of theories of contemporary dualism using sublated Cartesian views. They support the position of substance dualism on the basis of new arguments, or transform into some new forms of dualism according to its deficiency,or revive the dualistic structure of mind-body by virtue of some new sciences. So in order to deeply understand the development path of contemporary dualism, it is necessary for us to explore the internal argumentative structure and theoretical basis of contemporary dualism in terms of Descartes theory. While highlighting contemporary dualism with modern western philosophy of mind leadings the way, researching the differences and conjunctions in the philosophy of scientific practice between the traditional Cartesian theory of mind and body with contemporary dualism is an important subject about how to further introduce 、 digest 、 absorb and sublate the traditional theory of mind and body.
