Movie posters belonging to the art of a sea, it’s content is given priority to with reflecting film contect. Movie posters are often widely posed in the cinema, to the prosperous commercial city, bus stations, crowded. Like the movie budiness card, to introduce the audience to the film title, actors, plot rich movie information, etc. Different periods of movie posters covers different annoying expression, cultural characteristics. The Times, make a poster in the spectator at the same time also has a very high commercial value and artistic value. Musical as one of Hollywood’s genre, was once a time the most popular culture, a musical appeared in the 20 s an 30 s,for people to build a “utopia” type of light and shadow myth.Based on Hollywood musical poster rise so far as the research object, collected a large amount of musical poster, comb in Hollywood musical movie posters, on the basis of development, period of time can be divided into ” the early stage of the classic Hollywood”, “ classic Hollywood late”, “ new Hollywood” and “ contemporary Hollywood” four periods. In many movies work form 40 to study the more representative posters. Review previous research on musical articals more and ignored the role of the posters, therefore, the author selected the multimodal discourse analysis theory, an important aspect in interactive significance for analysis. This paper roughly divied into three parts, the first part is an overview of movie posters and Hollywood musical, origin, function of movie posters discussed, according to the Hollywood period of the change of musical development. The second part is to use the quantitative analysis of female image in each period of Hollywood musical poster to the statistics and according to the different period of Hollywood did summarized the general characteristics of women. The third part is the multimodal discourse analysis is the quantitative analysis of four periods of Hollywood musical film posters, according to the interactive meaning, establish the quantitative analysis of operational standards, in a separate analysis of each period is completed, the longitudinal comparative analysis of the data in the four periods, finally the quantitative analysis of results and interpretation.The author in the existing research results under the condition of limited, as widely as possible to collect the corresponding poster images and text information, use of multimodal discourse analysis studies of movie posters, most of the previous articles for specific through the case study of a movie poster in this paper, with this theory from the perspective of historical longitudinal interpretation of female images which Hollywood movie posters and shape, makes every effort to work through the above research, the research on posters and feminist theory research.
