| In China, "Bazaar" is the unique culture of Xin Jiang and Chinese Painting is unique in Han Culture in Xin Jiang. Therefore, the type Bazaar-themed Chinese Paintings is a part of native culture as well as Han Chinese Culture.Bazaar is a word from Uighur language which means market. It’s distributed over the south of Xin Jiang. As the main place for people of Uyghur nationality to exchange their work, it records the culture and life of them. Since the building of People’s Republic of China, many Han people come to Xin Jiang who have made great contribution to it’s infrastructure construction. Almost every Chinese painters in Xin Jiang have had description of Bazaar. However, for the fusion of Xin Jiang’s native artistic culture and Chinese traditional artistic culture is far from enough, it’s a big challenge and a continuous exploration for the painters to express the new style geographical landscape and exotic culture via Bazaar-themed Chinese paintings.This research aims to provide theoretical basis and practical instruction for further Chinese painting localization by summarizing and analyzing the composition of Bazaar-themed Chinese paintings. This thesis is mainly composed of four parts. In chapter 1 it mainly talks about the origin of Bazaar and it’s status in people’s social life. Furthermore, the situation and development of Bazaar theme-based Chinese paintings are illustrated. In chapter 2 it mainly summarizes the new style geographical landscape and the exotic culture described in Bazaar theme-based Chinese paintings. The form and the content of Bazaar in the perspective of Chinese painters are introduced and it’s cultural role is analyzed. In chapter 3 the general artistic expression of Bazaar theme-based Chinese paintings is concluded. It discusses the national spirit expressed in line and ink, the fitness of spatial layout for Bazaar in reality, form of language as realism painting and the expression of region color landscape. In chapter 4 the artistic value and the shortcoming of this type of painting are concluded.Through the illustration of the above four chapters, the changes of Bazaar theme-based Chinese paintings from Chinese economic reform till now are discussed. Their historical development, achievement, universality and the reasons for it, shortcomings and suggestions for further development are clarified. |
