In recent years, with the implementation of policy about campus culture construction, there are more and more intervention studies to the college freshmen. Altruistic behavior plays a significant role in the construction of school spirit. It attracts the extensive interest in psychology, organizational behavior and other fields. This paper describes the domestic and foreign research status of altruistic behavior. Then design a group counseling program for college freshmen who are in a low level of altruism. The research methods are literature collection, interviews and questionnaire. To probe the instant and sustained effectiveness of group consoling.The present study is based on questionnaire of Reality Altruistic Behavior to assess and screen the 249 freshmen in Wuhan Polytechnic University. Then select 42 students from the last 30% level of altruism as the research objects and divide into two groups. The one is the experimental group and accept group psychological intervention, the other is the homogeneity of the control group and not accept any intervention. Group counseling program designed by altruistic behavior, social support and empathy ability three parts. Take a total of six times the counseling intervention to experimental group in more than a month. And use the questionnaire of Reality Altruistic Behavior voluntarily, Perceived Social Support Scale and Interpersonal Reactivity Index Scale (Chinese version) to carry on group counseling. Conduct two tracking after group counseling within three months. In the meantime, make a comparative analysis of data in several stages. Finally, the results of research show that:1. The intervention scheme of group counseling is feasible and can promote the altruistic behavior of college freshmen significantly2. Through the follow-up study find that the effect of group counseling to the altruistic behavior can be sustained3. The relationship of altruistic behavior to perceived social support and empathy ability is positive...
