Background:Depression is a kind of common negative emotion, in groups of vocational college, With the fierce competition and the stress of employment, the rate of common people suffering from depression is rising continuously. College students who suffer from the sub-threshold depression are greater than the students of mild depression in both numbers and the negative effects to individuals and society. Based on the specific group counseling improve depressed mood, this study explores the affection curing students' depression by group counseling, and it has important theoretical and practical significance.Objective:(1)Explore the vocational college students'depressive mood.(2)Explore the fuction of psychological group counseling in improving vocational college students'self-esteem,automatic though,coping,social support and alleviating depressive mood of vocational college students.Methods:All(945) freshmen of some higher vocational school in Shanxi were investigated,the Symptom check list-90(SCL-90),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Depressive Experiences Questionaire(DEQ)were used as the baseline; 76 subjects, who are accordant to requirements, are randomly divided into experimental group and matched group. The assessments included Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS), Depressive Experiences Questionaire(DEQ),Social support Evaluation Scale(SSES),automatic thoughts questionnaire(ATQ),coping with style questionnaire (YFFS),The self-esteem scale (RSES) and feedback forms.SPSS13.0 software was used for data analysis, mean and deviation were used to describe the distribution of score of psychological scale.t test and AVONVA were used to test the difference of scale score in different factor levels. Multiple linear regression was used to explore the impact factors of scale score and the score difference (P<0.05).Result:(1)Baseline survey results:This research shows that:SCL-90 detects the rate of depression scoreā‰„2 was 127, accounting for 14.3%.(2)Evaluation of the intervention result:The difference of the scores of depression, depressive experiences, automatic thoughts, coping including problem solving,appealing and resignation,self-esteem before and after the counseling is statistically significant(p<0.05);The selected standard and excluded standard of stepwise regression is respectively 0.15 and 0.20, the results show that:group,age,autopunition,Introjection,automatic thoughts,depressive experiences,subjective support,class leader,single child were important variables of their depression.Conclusion:On the basis of Rational emotion behavior therapy,this study designs and carries out group counseling,and it is effective to alleviate vocational college students' depressive mood; group counseling not only gain social support and self-esteem but also improved the way of group members'cognitive coping, furthermore, the frequency of negative automatic thinking decreased.
