The East Zhejiang School in the Qing Dynasty, an academic school created by Huang Zongxi known as "the father of Chinese enlightenment thought", has great contributes to the files of Confucian classics, historiography, calendar, music and so forth. Scholars in East of Zhejiang advocated practicality, with the style of seeking truth from facts and was full of doubts, distinguishing and innovative spirit, which was also reflected in other scientific fields. In this paper, I taken into account all aspects of the unique insights and regarded the thought of East Zhejiang School as the breakthrough point. My aim is to generalize the thoughts of East Zhejiang School, and provide part based data for the research of East Zhejiang School.This paper is divided into four parts:the first part is an overview describing the formation, development achievement and influence of the school; The second part is an overall investigation about the musical thought of East Zhejiang School, which is the summaries of other art science; The third part is the concise of the connotation of East Zhejiang School, whose fundamental though came mainly from the thought of Confucian and the study of heart created by Wang Yangming; The fourth part is the value analysis of East Zhejiang School, including the ideological leading value. The last part is the conclusion:Based on historical data, combined with literature and history research methods and generalized the ideological connotation and the characteristics of East Zhejiang School which is reflected by other art works. I safely draw the conclusion that the East Zhejiang School not only seeks truth from facts, dare to break through the academic spirit, but also deepens the professional study of the history of ancient Chinese music.
