In the art history of Chinese and western, painting has experienced the evolution of status in "artisan "-"artist", but there is a conflict in these bisection pattern. In the contemporary, most "artists" still go in for easel paintings in the painting, even though they fusion " concept" in their creation,nor from the " handmade ". In addition, I studied the relevant literature of He Duoling, and found in his personal art history, the status of " artisan " and "artist" is not divides into two, but mixed intertwined. He Duoling rebel to the identity of the social responsibility that due to the " artist", significantly extends with the theme of contemporary art; and he back to the " artisan " through does not make the easel paintings become manual copy or empty deduction. My paper is based on this Basis, trying to explore the classical temperament of the painter He Duoling’s double contradictions identity in the contemporary art in the context. " The art movement in 1985 " marked the birth of Chinese contemporary art. The contemporary art develop to today, in its broadest definition, everyone is artist; easel painting develop to today, unfortunately, it loss standard. But the stubborn craft painters He Duoling chose to evade the trend and walk alone on the painting road, has always maintained a relationship of neither friendly nor aloof with Chinese Contemporary Art.This paper respectively from the perspective of etymology Chinese and English, research the semantic rheology of "artisan" and "artist", also from the western and Chinese art history and cultural context to complement the perspective of etymology, on this account definition of two represents the social role. Second, organize He Duoling’s individual experience and creation from the trend of important art appearance, select his most representative personal traits-hand painting about "muscle memory", painting creation of personal and social, sorrow of poetic aesthetic-from "literature poetry" to "hitsui poetry", in corresponding to manual technology, creation motive and aesthetic of the "arisan" and "artist", combined with the periodic representative artworks as an example, in the form of a "prose theory" on its free between "artisn" and "artist" consistently through the pursuit of unique identity. I have finally arrived at conclusion that in the context of contemporary art, like He Duoling with great concentration to create personal artistic practice to break conventional art development, has profound value conclusion.
