A Research Into The Influence Of The Piano Works Of Wang Jianzhong On The Development Of Piano Art In China

It has been more than one hundred years since the emergence of the piano in China. Many music educators, concert performers have devoted themselves to the cause of the development of the piano art in China. The piano works of Mr. Wang Jianzhong have made prominent contribution to the development of China’s piano art. His works have made the piano become a medium to spread China’s folk music to the world through the combination of composing technique in the west and the folk musical element in China so that more people who have an appetite for the Chinese piano can learn about it. This paper probes into the issue of the development of the piano education and the piano art in today’s China through the review of the history of the development of the piano art in China and the systematic analysis of part of Mr. Wang Jianzhong’s representative works.This paper divides the history of the development of the piano in China into six periods and makes analysis of each period, summarizes the historical background, musical characteristics, musical education, representative personage and representative works, classifies the piano works of Mr. Wang Jianzhong, makes a thorough analysis and summery of the five works of Hundreds Birds Homage to the Phoenix, Plum-blossom in Three Movements, Glowing Red Morningstar Lilies, Love of Butterfly and The Scene, and it concludes the positive influence of the piano works of Mr. Wang Jianzhong on the development of China’s traditional folk culture, China’s piano education and the development of the piano art in China based on the research in the first two chapters. Through the research of this thesis, we hope that more piano learners will know, understand and like China’s piano works, and understand the folk culture revealed in the piano works of Mr. Wang Jianzhong so that more music enthusiasts will take up the responsibility to spread the Chinese folk music culture and let China’s piano shine on the international arena.
