The contemporary Marine culture is open, free and shared. Along with the advent of the age of blue ocean, we cognize and explore the ocean more and more and the construction and development of coastal cities is faster and faster. The artistic creation roots in daily life but overtop the daily life. In order to avoid divorce between our oil painting art creation and our rich life, it is especially important to create marine culture production with regional features in present. Marine culture is a important part of human civilization. We, as oil painting artists, should think deeply how to explore ancient traditions of marine culture and how to discover contemporariness of marine culture. Only we know the present marine culture better, can we know the modernity of ourselves better. Therefore, it goes without saying that marine culture in-depth study has great cultural value and importance. Through integrating my life experience in the coastal city and oil painting art creation related to marine culture during postgraduate learning period, taking marine culture theoretical research and practice of oil painting creation as an entry point, this paper summarize the features of marine culture contemporariness.Research method and result as follows:1. Through the deep research of marine culture, I investigate the reason and features of marine culture contemporariness to look for the joint point between marine and oil painting creation.2. The paper list the research current situation of modern marine culture, combining the dilemma in the creation process of oil painting with the potential problem in the art creation related to marine culture in the present.3. We should establish a new oil painting creation road to solve the present dilemma of coastal oil painting art creation through research and practice of marine culture contemporariness.The concept of contemporariness in this paper cannot reach a consensus in academia now. The contemporariness cannot be defined now, but the discussion of the modernity is always existent. For example, Belinsky raised that modernity is one of much factor which constitutes the real poet in the " Discussing Baratynsky’s Poetry " Therefore, as for constitution of marine culture, contemporariness is one of the constituted factor. In order to avoid misunderstanding in the reading this paper, the definition of this contemporariness is spiritual definition that is spirituality related to time. The scope of this time refer to the current time, which is between history and future. The scope of marine culture contemporariness refer to the unique spirit generated by marine culture in the present production and daily life.At the same time, the discussion of the concept of the marine culture in this paper is according to universal nature of the present marine culture. It is not restricted to the relatively closed marine culture concept raised in " History Philosophy" by Hegel. There is some difference in marine culture various regions without selective treatment.
