Giorgio Morandi is one of the most typical European artists in 20th century. For the sake of time, Morandi’s work was not accepted at the very beginning and was concluded to the Scuola Metafisica, till the very end, his painting talent was affirmed unanimously. Morandi’s painting features are quite salient, modern art and classic art are integrated in an ingenious way, not only the occidental art tradition is absorbed, the oriental painting features are also included. He spend his whole life on the way of probing a painting style belongs to he himself, he tries to look for it form the Renaissance masters, and through his sustained accumulating and study. He has tried almost every style of painting, from the Cezanne’s Cubism to the Scuola Metafisica, all could be seen in his work. Marandi’s work gets so many coincidences with the traditional oriental painting, like the dispose of space, hue and chiaroscuro.While Morandi was living in distant Italy, different culture, his aesthetic characteristics and artistic concept had a lot of similarity to China artist. Whether it is his way of life was in his paintings that solitary cable short silence, or the choice of painting form and content all approach to Oriental contemplation. His painting gives people a sense of peace, to a land of idyllic beauty realm. Morandi this unique painting style experienced the baptism of tradition and innovation, he does not abandon the traditional cultural spirit, also do not absorb the essence of popular completely, but on this basis, to explore and think constantly, running my own painting.Morandi formed his painting theory by living like a cenobite. The succession of the tradition and the modern influence gave him the technical support. The construction, color and space are his basic painting languages. Trying to seek the most essential visual construction, he was rewarded with his progress in arts. Although he didn’t think the painting concerned any sense of literature, morality, philosophy and religion, he was affected by them. Morandi was fond of peace in mind, freedom, simplicity and away from fame and wealth. These life attitudes had actually exerted subtle influence on his aesthetic taste and his works.We could call his work is a perfect blending of oriental and occidental art, but what is being respected by people is not only Morandi’s excellent painting talent, but also his attitude toward art, which is never seek fame and wealth, being calm and cautious. Morandi always being a persistent chaser of his painting dream, and it is he who gives art of this age a brand-new power, and we all believe that he is the leader of art developing today.
