Research On Duanmu Hongliang’s Creation Of The Period Of Guilin Cultual City

In 1942, Duanmu Hongliang moved from Hongkong to Guilin. After a long period of wandering life in war, due to Xiao Hong’s death and others’misunderstanding, he was trapped into unprecedented predicament. At that time, Guilin’s profound cultural connotation, relatively stable environment and free cultural atmosphere attracted many cultural experts of different schools and backgrounds; and this made Guilin a famous cultural city. Therefore, Guilin cultural city provided Duanmu Hongliang a peace healing place. what’s more, the friends Duanmu Hongliang made here, such as Liu Yazi, Zhu Yinlong and so on, gave him warm feelings and subtle creative influences. The content and style of Duanmu Hongliang’s works presented new characteristics, and finally reached to a mature stage.On the basis of predecessors’researches, this paper tries to understand the writer’s creation through analyzing and portraying writer’s inner life; and tries to highlight new changes and characteristics compared to the writer’s previous works. Under the study of writer and his works, further discuss the meaning of human and city, culture and salvation and so on.This paper is composed of three parts. The first part introduces Duanmu Hongliang’s predicament when he came to Guilin, the diverse culture of Guilin, and his friends’help and influences. This part introduces the background and the inside and outside reasons of creation change. The second part describes Duanmu Hongliang’s change, including creation themes, text images and technique of expression changes, when his mental state changed from screaming to wandering. This part further analyzes the writer’s searching and rescanning for life and culture when he was wandering about. This process also indicates the writer’s deeply self-reflection after experiencing life setback. The third part summarizes the meanings of creation in this period; these works helped Duanmu Hongliang to achieve the cultural and art peak, and were important for his salvation. Through creating these works, Duanmu Hongliang vented the feelings and sorrows in the real life; and finally he got liberated in way of art salvation; as the result, he can bravely face his life with a new attitude.On the basis of intensive reading of the text, combining the creating background, this paper tries as much as possible to restore writer’s living condition and mental state at that time. Based on this, this paper tries to make objective and just comments on these works, to rectify the writer and his works, to contribute to the Guilin cultural city research. This is the point the author insists when conceiving and writing this paper.
