Vietnam Thirty-Six String Instrument And Chinese Yangqin In Comparison Of Playing Trait And Method

Yangqin in Vietnam also known as Thirty-six string instrument is an integral part of Vietnamese traditional instrument orchestra. Today, every traditional instrument needs to find its own path of development, integrating itself with modern life; Vietnam Thirty-six string instrument is not an exception. When Vietnam Thirty-six string instrument has not found out its own suitable road, Chinese Yangqin has developed comprehensively. Came from Vietnam, the present writer is very interested in and admire of Chinese Yangqin’s playing technique. As a result, the writer wants to study in this thesis Chinese Yangqin’s playing technique, to find the reason makes Chinese Yangqin’s art become popular.By means of the comparison and analysis of Vietnam Thirty-six string instrument and Chinese Yangqin’s playing technique, it was found that there are some similarities between them but also some differences. The differences in playing technique between these two musical instruments come from the instruments’ body structure, scale and range.Through this research, the writer thinks that Vietnam Thirty-six string instrument’s development direction can refer to Chinese Yangqin’s development road. In order to make Vietnam Thirty-six string instrument get into a new stage of development, this musical instrument’s enthusiasts and researchers have to make great efforts to create, to research and to teach it widely.
