The dissertation subject is "Mongolian extended long song study". The extended long song (aizam urtyn duu), which unfolds melodically as a continual linear development, is performed mainly in Khalkha Mongols. It is characterized by rich ornamentation and use of falsetto, extreme elongation of both musical phrases and syllables, and lack of regular beat. In performance of the aizam long song, melodic complexity and melismatic skill takes precedence over textual clarity both performer and audience. Old script pronunciation is often used, and syllables are interpolated to preserve the flow of the melodic line. Performance manner is restrained, with little facial or bodily movement.I did a research about extended long song"s history, melody, and also traditional environment. During my field research, I went to nine aimag and sum. In that time also I met around 30 people and recorded their singing at extended long song.
