Wang ken-tang came from a bureaucratic family. According to the traditional life orbit, he should have ups and downs in the officialdom, but he contributed himself to the medical aim eventually, not focusing the government official, and had created a different life, which had been reflected in his book of Yu Gang Zhai Bi Zhu. This paper takes the book as the research object. Firstly, we investigate Wang’s experiences in the capital of Beijing where he got an government officer. Secondly, solving some problems of the book, like the title, version, print and distribute. Thirdly, some books were cited in the book have been found out, by these books, we can analyze the knowledge structure and research orientation of Wang. Finally, theory of poetry of Wang in the book have been analyzed, and we find out the reasons why he failed to become a famous writer.In the first chapter, by investigating Wang’s Imperial Examination and the life of officer in the capital of Beijing, we find that he’s ambition is Chinese traditional medical. So, he gave up his official and worked on it in his hometown. AS a different example of intellectual in the late Ming-dynasty, Wang let we have a knowledge about the profession had been divided and became elite, which has broken stereotype impression of the modern people to the ancient intellectuals.In the second chapter, we discussed the version and print of the book, and clarified the relationship Yu Gang Zhai Bi Zhu and Nian Xi Bi Zhu.In the third chapter, we found 136 kinds of radical books had been cited in this book, and Zi Bu’s books is the most in the number, accounts for 72% of the total amount. Wang was interested at the Eclectics, the Buddhism, Chinese traditional medical and textology. Especially, having an attitude of scholar, he put the method of textology into the Chinese traditional medicine, which made him from a Confucian scholar into a generation of famous doctor eventually.In the fourth chapter, we have refined and judged Wang’s theories of poetry in the book. Wang thought that poetry should have interesting things, advocating the point of "poetry is Yuefu". And whether the poetry into music or not, which had been treated as the standard of poetry. He opposed the point of "stress the past"of literature. In his opinions, he suggested that everyone should have their own features. These theories were closed to Gongan scholar’s propositions. Although he were no lack of insight of poetry, and had the skills of writing poetry, owing to a various of reasons, he had no outstanding achievements in literature.
