With the development of major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language (TCSOL), more and more foreign language background students change to this major, especially some English major students. And it’s the third largest amount of students except for whose major is Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and Chinese Language and literature. This study is of meaningful to personal development and cultivation unit.In this paper, the focus of the research is Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language (MTCSOL) of English major. The study is mainly about their learning condition during their post-graduation. Based on the problems in cultivation plan, which are put forward by many scholars, I design the questionnaire and interview questions. By analyzing of questionnaire and interview answers, I summarize some problems of their learning, including course, teaching practice, essay writing, internships and employment. The paper aims to give some advice on these aspects after comparing standards of international Chinese teachers. I hope these students can reach cultivation goals and be able to adapt to Chinese international promotion.The first chapter introduces the background, meaning and method of this paper. Then the paper summarizes the research achievements of other scholars.The second chapter analyzes the mastered skills of MTCSOL of English major. It mainly includes the following aspects:the first is the analysis of knowledge and skills which they have already mastered, the second is the analysis of knowledge and skills which they still lack of, and the third is the analysis of their advantages and disadvantages during teaching Chinese.The third chapter does the survey of MTCSOL of English major through questionnaire and interview. First, the paper investigates the reason why English major students chose TCSOL. Second, the paper summarizes the difficulties which they faced with from course, teaching practice, essay writing, internships and employment. Third, the paper analyses the study situation of foreign language background students of MTCSOL.The four chapter is about some advice to individuals and cultivation units, which based on analysis and conclusion for the difficulties that English major students are faced with.The fifth chapter reviews and summarizes the whole research, and points out the limitations of the study. What’s more, the paper suggests a prospect on the research of learning condition of students who comes from English major.
