In the early 1980s,There is a big wave in ChineseContemporary local realistic oil paintings,in which the typical representatives are Chen Danqing and Luo Zhongli.At the beginning of this century,artists start to shape and explore the images of peasants and pay attention to migrant workers and the big historicalchanges of the society.The artists,Xin Dongwang,Xu Weixin and Liu Xiaodong,could be the representatives which observe the real life and experience the sufferings of ordinary people to reflect their value of life and human dignity.Artists use various artistic forms and mass drawing practice to shape the images of migrant workers in different styles.Some of them observe,interpret and model the peasant images of the Tibetan and father from other perspective.Others explore the inner spirit of migrant workers from the self perspective which means artists adapt themselves to migrant workers’life.The vivid image of migrant workers and rich artistic experience have become a rare treasure of Chinese art treasure house.This thesis has five parts.Part one is the introduction to the demarcations of the basic living conditions of contemporary Chinese peasants,peasantworker rush and migrant workers in city.The second part describes the various stages of the development of Chinese oil painting,from making portraits for high officials and noble lords when oil painting is introduced to making portraits for ordinary people in the development,showing the performance of peasants’ image in oil painting.Part three focus on the peasants’ image-modeling in contemporary Chinese local oil painting and exploration of the image. The research result show by the cases of artists’paintings listing influential contemporary artists and exploring the life value and human dignity of contemporary Chinese peasants from the analysis of the work itself to shape their image of farmers.Part four is about the artists’ emotional expression and mental analysis towards the image of peasants. From different self-status definition,which could be other or self perspective,both of the emotional expression and mental analysis contain the artists’ demand of emotions to the land, they also take the initiative to the awareness of social responsibility.Part five is the future expectations and opportunity of the development of ChineseContemporary local oil paintings.
