Zhichun Lin was the founder of the world history field studies in China, and his main achievements were the researches on Chinese City-State System and the Feudal System, these consisted of his trend of the thought of history.Professor Lin stood his theory that the early China developed the City-State System based on his comparative research on China and the Western histories. Lin’s theory consisted of his thoughts on the earliest form of the country were the State-City, the principles of transformation from State-City to Country, and the similarities of politics on Western and Chinese societies. Based on these points, Lin argued the Feudal System of China. By the inside comparisons between Western colonial City-States and Chinese colonial City-States, Lin supported his points that China didn’t developed the Feudalism like the Western Europe in medieval time, therefore, China didn’t has the period of "The Black Time" like Europe. Lin’s theories in Chinese history fields of the world history studies have brought scholars a deep thinking on the further research. However, Lin’s research methods are still controversial, as his research based on the Five Theories of the society, such as he adopted preconceived notions to prove the historical phenomenon, it was obviously incomplete, and his theories were hard for scholars to trust all.
