Feudal Lord System. Western Guangxi Zhuang And Dai Comparative Study

Since the 1980s, it is always an academe research hotspot to research the social history and culture of Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province. The research content includes of many ways of the two nationalities social historic development and were harvested many fruits. This dissertation is to aim at the comparative research of the feudal lord system of the Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province.The dissertation will make a research by five chapters.Chapter 1 discusses the feudal lord system development survey of Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna. The chapter was divided by three sections to explain on the physical geography of Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna, and emphasized on the course of budding, developing to mature and dying out of the feudal lord system between the two nationalities, and set a brief explain to the impersonal reason.In Chapter 2 and Chapter 4, they were given to compare to the politics system, class system, regime form, economic system and religion system between the feudal lord systems of the two nationalities and that is the main pot of this dissertation.In Chapter 2, it is compared to the politics system, class system and regime form of the two feudal lord systems in order to get the similarities and differences course of the feudal lord system by analyzing the superstructure.In Chapter 3, it is compared to the economic system of the feudal lord system of Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna. It is analyzed the similarities and differences course of the two systems from the soil system, feudal land tax and prerogative exploitation, etc. It is pointed out that the otherness of the two areas economic system leads to the disagreement of the two feudal lord systems' developing course.During the social historic developing course of the two areas, religion is not only thedeciding effect, but also exerts a profound influence on the feudal lord system; especially to the area of Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna. Chapter 4 summarizes the religion belief of the feudal lord system in Zhuang Nationality of the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality of Xishuangbanna, and compares to the religion systems of the two areas. The dissertation gives an impersonal attitude to the effect on religion that religion has two sides in the course of the social development. We must see the negative, also, can not ignore the positive of it to promote the social development and the feasibility of religion existent.In Chapter 5, the textual conclusion, given by the various differences and similarities of these two feudal lord systems which have been discussed in the preceding paragraphs, and pointed out that the disagreement of social configuration in the course of the social history developing is the disagreement between the superstructure and economic foundation in the abstract. This disagreement would be adjusted to lead to accord on some extent during the social historic developing. In the areas of Zhuang Nationality in the west of Guangxi and Dai Nationality of Xishuangbana, the difference of the historic developing condition leads to the difference of the feudal lord systems. First, these two feudal lord systems which could exist for many years have a close relationship with the natural geography condition. Distinct natural conditions lead to different developments of these two areas. The land of the west region in Guangxi is quite leaner than that in Xishuangbanna. Lower social productivity, heavier exploitation by the feudal lords and peasants' strong rebellious consciousness make the social conflicts more serious which cause the social transform and promote the die out of the feudal lord system. However, the governance of the feudal lords system in Xishuangbanna could develop firmly over a long period of time. That's because with a more superior natural condition for production, abundant cultivated resources, highly output and the concealment of lord exploitation, the rank conflicts between the lord and farmer in Xishuangbanna are not very sharp. Second, dissimilarity in geography and transportation of the two regions causes exotic economy to put various impacts on the feudal lord system which makes their development in Xishuangbanna and the west region in Guangxi different. The water carriage of the west region in Guangxi is more developed than that in Xishuangbanna. From Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, more and more emigrants entered the west region of Guangxi. Alsoinfluenced by the moving toward west of merchants from Guangzhou province in Ming and Qing Dynasty, social economy and culture of the west region in Guangxi was effected more seriously by exotic impacts. Landlord economy developed more broadly in the west region of Guangxi, resulting in the concussion and feudalism of the feudal lord system, but things in Xishuangbanna was exactly the opposite.Secondly on the function of exotic forces, the two areas have different results and impacts on the feudal lord system. Xishuangbanna locates on the frontier of southwest, and in history it is the strategic area where always be invaded by the foreign enemy. Experienced many time invasions of foreign enemies and long-term chaos caused by war, Xishuangbanna suffered a lot which seriously blocked the development of the social economy and led the society of Xishuangbanna to stagnate in the phase of feudal lord economy for a long period of time. In addition, the conflict between the feudal lords and local peasants has been transferred and eased again and again by the invasion of foreign forces and go-all-out resistance of feudal lords, which objectively supported the existence and development of feudal lord system. The development of commodity trade and the planting and trading of opium which caused by convenience traffic in the west region in Guangxi, promoted the social development on a certain extent and gave the developing space to the feudal landowner economy, at last lead the feudal lord system to die out.The third, different minds of nationalities have distinct acceptance of exotic economy and culture, which results in the otherness of the two areas' feudal lord systems. Zhuang Nationality is an open-minded and tolerant nation and gives comprehensive attitude to exotic culture, so it is easier to make revolution and urge the development of the society. Xishuangbanna has superior resources, easily making Nationality become content with present condition and reject exotic economy and culture. This caused the slow development of the society and the long-term developing phase of feudal lord system.In a word, by the research method of comparison and emphasis on the bud, form, development and contabescence of feudal lord system from Song dynasty until the initial stages of liberation, this dissertation discusses the intrinsic factors of the social form of feudal lord system by comparing the similar nationalities, Dai Nationality of Xishuangbanna inYunnan and Zhuang Nationality in western Guangxi, hoping to realize the common disciplinarians of the two nationalities and find the special process of them. This enriches the research field to the feudal social configuration of Dai Nationality in Xishuangbanna and Zhuang Nationality in Guangxi, offsets the lack of the two nationalities research, explores the common disciplinarians of the south nationalities, and provides the reference to the development of Zhuang Nationality and Dai Nationality. This also helps us to further master the developing rules of politics, economy and culture in south area, fully exert the advantages of frontier area, and evade the disadvantages as well as providing certain reality reference to promote the process of Western Development and the economy development of extensive Southeast Asia region.
