English is an important part of cultural course of secondary vocational school, but the vocational school students have no confidence and enthusiasm in learning English. They are tired of study. Researchers believe that it is important to inspire the student’s intrinsic psychological factors in English learning, which also has significance to cultivate their learning motivation in the teaching activities. The purpose of this investigation was to examine the role of motivation and related factors in a second language culture in students’ English learning in a vocational middle school. This paper introduces the learning motivation theories and the present researches on foreign language learning motivation at home and abroad. It includes the classification of motivation: integrative motivation, instrumental motivation, as well as the external and internal factors that influence their motivation. Several other motivation modes are introduced in addition.This research mainly adopts questionnaire investigation methods. In this study, the researcher designed questionnaire by using Likert Scale’s to form learning motivation scale. The author hands out 70 formal questionnaire paper to the Kaiyuan vocational middle school students in order to investigate the English learning motivation and relevant influencing factors. In this thesis, the author understands serious condition that students’ English learning motivation is generally low, and the students disgusted to learning English through questionnaire survey.On the basis of the results of the questionnaire and theories combined with investigation, the author analyzes the factors influencing the vocational student’s English learning motivation. According to the characteristics of the students and present situation of professional English teaching, the author puts forward some suggestions from teaching environments, counter measures, conditions of motivation, the standard of evaluation and generating strategies in order to stimulate the vocational student’s English learning motivation.
