Yuan Jie was a famous writer in the Tang Dynasty. This paper first reviews the existing research results, which analyzes room for further studies, and secondly describes contents and methods briefly. ChapterⅠ, analyzing the connection of Yuan Jie and Confucianism, paying attention to his words and deeds. Chapter II, in order to discuss the traditional of Taoism associated with Yuan Jie, I first discusses the possibility of accepting, and then analyzed separately the connection of Lao Zhuang and Yuan Jie. The results include simple society,freedom, and returning to natural and so on. The third chapter, I discuss the relationship of Yuan Jie and literary traditional, and believe that he inherited the legacy of "Book of Songs", Chuci and Tao Yuanming. Chapter IV, Yuan Jie’s landscape poetry and landscape prose make an high achievement, revealing its inherited from the landscape Poetry of Xie Lingyun " three parts ".Stylistic analysis of yuan Jie’s landscape prose states clearly that Yuan Jie was different with Liu Zongyuan, because Yuan Jie and Liu Zongyuan were the continuation of the two tradition of literature, Liu Zongyuan inherited Zhuang Zhou, Yuan Jie inherited Qu yuan.Chapter V, with three groups of articles, which represents the three groups of articles in different periods of Yuan Jie’s political thought.in addition, from a stylistic study, they also have different characteristics, three "Huang mo" are very concise and powerful; three "Shi Yi" are very self-consistent and and full of energy; two "Xie Biao" contain genuine emotion, which break the existing norms, adding new content, pushing the stylistic innovation.Chapter VI, a background of the cultural community of Tang Dynasty, the part shows what Yuan Jie could do to be faced with challenges.
