Since dancesport was introduced to China, it has expanded and developed for nearly 30 years. It has taken hold and gain popularity in the society. It the unique competing system has gradually established with an extinctive features quite different from other sports events.Dancesport competition constitutes a vital part of dancesport development. Jiangxi is one of the earliest provinces which hosted some nationwide dancesport competiton. But now it has been faced with quite a few problems which hinder it from further development although it has built its own competing system. Jiangxi Dancesport Championships---the representative of the dancesport competitions in Jiangxi---has gone through several years of rapid development under the influence of nationwide boosting growth of the dancesport. Since the first Jiangxi dancesport championships in Nanchang in July of 1991, it has been the largest and the most influential event in Jingxi province, representing the highest event-organizing level, competition level as well as the level of dancesport development. Therefore, the study research on the Jiangxi dancesport championships indicates the status quo, strengths and weaknesses of the dancesport competition in Jiangxi, which brings theoretical and practical values to the growth of the dancesport competition in Jiangxi. The dissertation employs the methods of documentation analysis, expert interview, survey, video analysis, mathematical statistics, compare-and-contrast, induction and synthesis to deeply investigate the status quo and the development of Jiangxi dancesport competition and thus offers its countermeasures.Based on the analysis of the set-up of the events, the grouping, teams participating in the competition, dancers, referees, the marketing, it is concluded that 1) there exists a poor foundation for the program of international style of ballroom dancing for teenagers, and a lack of dancers who have potentials; 2) there appears a gross disproportion in sex between teenager dances; 3) it is unreasonable how the competitors--specialized academies and university students---are grouped; 4) the names of the teams participating in the competition are not strictly examined; 5) most referees have two identities. They are working as a teacher and referee during the competition and their morals are to be improved; 6) the marketing has lagged behind the times without a scientific and rational ways and measures to run the competition.Countermeasures are offered to resolve the above problems in the dissertation. They are as follows: 1) teenager dancers should be encouraged to fully better themselves in dancesport; 2) boy students should be guided to learn dancesport; 3) the review of competing university students must be regulated; 4) the use of names must be regulated; 5) enough importance should be attached to the training of the referee s overall quality; 6) the marketing of dancesport competition has to be actively promoted and its invisible assets must get fully developed; 7) the competition has to get largely advocated to become the cream one.
