White lie, to be called prosocial lie, which contains the characteristic of lie and prosocial characteristic. It is very important for our life to improve the development of human’s socialization and establish a good relationship with others. Age 3-6 is critical to children’s social development, which is affected by many factors, especially the development of theory of mind. Age 4 is not only the significant period of the development of theory of mind, but also the critical time of the development of socialization. Measures should be taken to concern children’s process. As the special groups, the healthy growth of left behind children require everyone’s attention. To discuss the relationship between theory of mind and white lie is particularly important. It not merely deepen the content and theory of theory of mind and white lie, but also provide the support and directive for the educators in the process of actual education.The research consists of left behind children and non-left behind children all 120 people. The development characteristic between the theory of mind and white lie is investigated by tasks called disappointing gift, unexpected location and unexpected content, to study the relationship between theory of mind and white lie and the difference of left behind children and non-left behind.The results show that:(1) The development of theory of mind has significant difference between age 3-6 years old, and there is no significant difference in gender.(2) Whether white lie behavior happened has significant difference between age 3-6 years old. White lie behavior is increased with the age increased, and there is no significant difference in gender.(3) White lie behavior motivation has significant difference between age 3-6 years old. It shows a tendency that with the increasing of age, children’s white lie from self-protection to prosocial motivation, and there is no significant difference in gender.(4) There is a significant correlation of theory of mind with whether white lie behavior happened. Theory of mind can predict whether white lie behavior happened and the higher of the development of theory of mind,the more of the white lie behavior motivation.(5) There is a significant difference between left behind children and non-left behind children among theory of mind, whether white lie behavior happened, the motivation of white lie. And the critical period of the development of theory of mind is different.To sum up, the main draw the following conclusions:The theory of mind and whether white lie behavior happened is development with the age increased at 3-6 years old. And it shows a tendency that with the increasing of age, children’s white lie from self-protection to prosocial motivation. Theory of mind can predict whether white lie behavior happened and the higher of the development of theory of mind, the more of the white lie behavior motivation. Left behind children’s development of theory of mind, whether white lie behavior happened and motivation of white lie is much more slowly than non-left behind children.
