Nobody Buys Technology from a Stranger is a book on marketing communications. The author of this book selects 30 lessons in high tech marketing field and gives deep analysis on each of them. At the end of each lesson, a summary is given to readers.This report focuses on the English-Chinese translation of the first 14 marketing cases of this book. Guided by Catford’s Translation Shift, the translation project is successfully finished. In this report, the author analyses the content and the language features of the source text and summarizes the value and expectation of this translation practice in task descript ion. And in process description, a clear explanation of the translation process and the Catford’s Translation Shift is given. And then b y combining with the Catford’s Translation Shift, intensive analysis is made on the level shift and category shift. Meanwhile, the author introduces the limitation of Catford’s theory and translation strategies and skills adopted in the discourse translation. And in the end, this report adds annotations for some points of the source text. The author also explains the limitation on the analysis of the source text and the potential translation problems. The expectation of this report is to accumulate a wealth of translation experience and provide useful information for translators of similar texts by adopting Catford’s Translation Shift.
