An Analysis On Fuzzy Language Translation In Business English Correspondence From The Eco-translation Perspective

In 1965, a famous American scientist named Zadeh proposed Fuzzy Sets, thus a series of new subjects were produced, such as fuzzy logic, fuzzy math, fuzzy linguistics, etc. With the emergence of fuzzy linguistics, it is gradually accepted that fuzziness is the basic nature of natural language.With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the growth of international business, international economic cooperation has also become more frequent, thus more and more business correspondences are produced. It is generally believed that business English correspondence language, which is formal language, should be solemn, precise and contain no fuzzy language. However, the fact is opposite. Even as a legal text which stresses the formality, business correspondences inevitably contain fuzzy language. In recent years, the translation circle has made profound studies about the business correspondence translation. Moreover, as business correspondence arouse interest of many industries, the study of fuzziness translation in business correspondence has great realistic significance.Ecological translation is a translation study in the ecological environment. It’s based on the ecology analysis process. And it’s core concept are adaptive selection and selective adaptation. The concept of a series of terms in ecological translation gradually formed a perfect system. This paper is an attempt to apply the ecological theory to the fuzzy language in business letter translation study, and in this paper, I point out that the Chinese translation of fuzzy language in business correspondences needs to adapt to the ability of the translator, the business requirements of the recipient, the language dimension and cultural communication. Besides that, I demonstrates the explanatory power operation of ecological translation theory conducted in fuzzy language of business correspondence translation. So that we can achieve successful translation and successful communication.This paper is composed of introduction, four chapters and conclusion. First of all, I introduce the general situation of the paper. The first chapter introduces significant research of fuzzy language, business correspondences and ecological translation theory. The second chapter introduces the theoretical framework of ecological translation. The third chapter introduces the problems of fuzzy language in business correspondence translation. The fourth chapter combines the ecological translation theory with the translation of fuzzy language in business correspondences to analyze specific translation strategies. Under the guidance of the ecological theory, this paper mainly introduces the adaptation and selection of fuzzy language translation, as well as their linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension in details. The last part is conclusion, which includes main findings, limitations and suggestions to further studies.
