For a long time, after a long-term training of pose of a portrait sculpture, most artists pay more attention to the figure shape of their models in the process of creation, regardless of the cognition and exploration into the model’s inner thoughts and the world. And if the artist needs great progress in the creation, he is expected to dig into the relations between the creation of a portrait sculpture and its participants. In this regard, the essay aims to figure it out so as to provide a theoretic guidance to those artists in the field of portrait sculpture.The essay consists of five parts, with a focus on the model, the artist, the masterpiece and its audience and their relations. The first part is offers a literature review, gives the reason for the creation of the essay and elaborates the research significance and aim. The second part analyses the model, including the description of his figure shape and inner thoughts, aiming to shed light on the facial form facial structure with an emphasis on the influence on his figure shape by his experiences and emotions or characters. Then in the third part, the author gives a description of the artist’s key role in the process of creation including his professional development, aesthetic experience and style and analyses the factors for his creation. The fourth part, rooted in the portrait sculpture elaborates its form of expression and the intervention by technology and concepts. Later in the fifth part, from the angle of an audience the author gives an understanding of a masterpiece and explores the limit caused by the stereotype experience and personal aesthetic experience, then offering the understanding of a piece of work after misunderstanding. With this regard, a great many factors are attributed to the creation of a portrait sculpture with a focus on the rational analysis and sensitive performance of a model by an artist. Since the regular rational analysis is the base in the creation part, a mastery of the shape forming with a good control over his appearance and a creation of the mental attitude of a model play a pivotal role in a good creation. Also a good artist should enable the analysis to serve the creation process. Compared with the actual body shape and inner thoughts, the subjective performance acts as the creative thinking pattern. Hence an artist is supposed to pay attention to life, nature, society and history. Besides he should make a judgment on the agreement of the outside and inner side of a model. And a live form of performance is needed as well with a creation of amazingly attractive model.so as to produce a new language of art, showing true feelings.To conclude, a piece of work, its model, its artist and the audience constitute the four elements in a creation process with interaction and integrity. On the basis of personal experiences when creating, the author explores the relations among those elements in order to reflect and find a good state in which an artist should be a real art creator as well as to give some hint on personal future career.
