From October 2010, SARFT issued the "Opinions on Accelerating the development of documentary film industry", and then documentaries develop rapidly, public concern for the documentary is also rising, a number of new work, masterpiece constantly broadcast, set off a round after round of ratings frenzy. People began to widely use the documentary medium form to spread the region image,thus affecting the public perception of the region. The region image has become an important part of the soft power,forming internal cohesion and forming external attraction.This paper chooses the hot broadcasting documentary "Gansu Corridor" in 2015 and the Sino-Japanese co-production "Silk Road" in 1979 as examples,uses text analysis and comparative analysis,establishes anlytical framework, and analyses comparatively and study the two documentaries.From the region’s political, economic, cultural, military and ethnic and other angles,the author analyses "Gansu Corridor" presents what image of Gansu, and how to present.Also selecting the three-episode documentarythe of "Silk Road" which are typical and can represent Gansu analyses,taking typical scenes and shots to analyse specifically showing what the image’s problems.And finally the author uses the comparative analysis method,systematicly reviewing the two documentaries’ difference in exhibiting specific image, the ways of expression,sound and picture language and narrative strategies and so on,Through the study found, the documentary Gansu Image Communication are: First documentary about Gansu Image Communication "curing" and "flat"; the second is less effective dissemination of Gansu image quality documentaries; the third is the reality of the image and Gansu differences documentary image. On this basis, the author proposes to improve the image of Gansu documentary spread sheet measures are: First, the topic level, to widen the choice of subject matter, Gansu round display image; the second is the creation mode, using civilians Perspective to achieve a two-way combination of history and reality; the third is presented in theboutique, to create brand awareness, build Gansu image Communication boutique documentary.Through the study, the author found that the problems of documentary in Gansu image communicationmainly are: First documentary about Gansu Image communication "curing" and "flat"; the second is the quality documentaries which effectively communicate Gansu images are less; the third is the reality of the image and the image of documentary are diffetent. On this basis,the author gives advices to improve the documentary to spread image of Gansu,mainly are: First,on the topic level, to widen the choice of subject matter, display the Gansu image comprehensively; Second, on the creation mode, to use civilians perspective to achieve a two-way combination of history and reality; third, on the presenting in the boutique, to bulid brand awareness, create the boutique documentary to communicate Gansu image.
