Research On The Traditional Tattoos Design Of The Daiethnic Group In Yunnan Province

This paper aims to research on the traditional tattoos of the Dai ethnic group in Yunnan Province, elaborates on the overall introduction,custom and features, design methods and multiple other aspects of the traditional tattoos of the Dai people,utilising the methods of artistic design, together with ethnology, culturology, history,aesthetics, folklore and other subjects.This article firstly starts from the bigger "culture" and talks about the origin of the Dai traditional tattoos, analyses the influences of paintings, religions and Pattra culture on Dai traditional tattoos and also explains the functions of tattoos. This paper then makes a classified study on the designs of traditional Dai tattoos in the aspects of design features, category, location and design rules. In the end, this paper explores the materials and tools required in traditional Dai tattoos and process of drawing and precautions.It has become more significant to conduct a further exploration of the traditional Dai tattoos, especially in today when we put more of our attention to the exchange and collision between minority culture and Han culture. Dai traditional tattoos are products from multiple influences including Dai history, culture and its society,therefore, this design analysis on the patterns of Dai traditional tattoos and the conclusion of the design rules and design notion including using dots and lines to make an image, emphasizing the main points and minimizing the minor parts,symmetrical and resonating, and rhythmic, aim to cast some inspiration on other ethnic and contemporary tattoo design.
