Interior Design functions as a carrier and signal of Chinese culture and heritage,possesses profound cultural connotations and strong cultural spirits. As the continuity ofmodern interior design and development, Chinese traditional decorative pattern is animportant element to meet the traditional emotional dependence of the people. How to buildand design things full of traditional charms according to the modern aesthetic needs, so thatthe traditional Art Deco can be fully appreciated and expressed in the modern interior designbecome a significant issue to look directly into in the field of design.Qilu culture is broad and profound, it gives birth a attractive part of Chinese traditionaldecorative patterns to the Qilu traditional decorative patterns, reflects the ethnic and regionalexpressions. Therefore, Qilu traditional decorative patterns should bear the burden of carryingforward the “new Chinese interior design style”. As the most representative of the Qilutraditional decorative patterns, Qilu folk art patterns also play an extremely important andpositive role in the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese arts.This thesis begins with the classification of Qilu folk art, follows the summary up theQilu traditional decorative patterns types and organizational methods. With a wide variety oftraditional patterns, in various forms, Qilu traditional decorative patterns reflects China’snational characteristics and spiritual nature of its profound meaning and cultural connotationsin modern interior design.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of recent times interior design as well asthe future development trend, and points out the direction for how to make better applicationof the Qilu traditional patterns in modern interior design. Comparisons among ancient,modern and contemporary interior design styles were made and the novel trend of moderninterior design was summed up for better heritage as well as innovation of traditionaldecorative patterns in future development.After having a clear sense of the directions of China’s interior design future development,it is necessary to work out a detailed analysis on how can traditional decorative patternsappropriate to the modern interior design, which is to be set forth in this fourth chapter, that “adirect reference to”,“extraction” and “deformation, induction, restructuring” three ways, with examples to demonstrate; review and summarize the traditional decorative patterns used invarious parts of the interior space law and decorative means (i.e., use of decorative materials).In the fifth chapter, the author come up with a few instructions of the Qilu traditionaldecorative patterns applied to the interior design more successful and typical case forcomprehensive analysis and summary, and then put forward the traditional decorative patternswith contemporary interior design combined with the new ideas and new methods–that isabout to traditional decorative patterns and new decorative material combination.
