A Study On The Language And Culture Of Place Names In Northern Shaanxi

Northern Shaanxi is the transation belt between Central China’s agricultural civilization and nomadic culture which belong to north of Shannxi. Northern Shaanxi culture also has its primitive and all reflects in the place names as a breakthough point to study the cule of the region.In this paper, all the place names in Northern Shaanxi which is the research object of this paper,is divided into six chapters, the first part is the introduction about Yanan and Yulin as well as the significance of this paper, the second part gives a general overview of Northern Shaanxi’s written language structure in place names, classified vocabulary, lexical features from phonetic features the names and place names in Northern Shaanxi are discussed; the third part writes the names of the Shaanxi rhetoric, emphatically introduces metaphor, metonymy, allusion, exaggeration, taboo and other several rhetorical phenomenon; the fourth part is the focus of this paper-- the cultural connotation of place names in Northern Shaanxi, this part discusses respectively from place names and local culture, history and culture religious culture, ethnic fusion and social mentality of the opposite. The fifth part is mainly about the evolution and development of Shaanxi places; the sixth part is the conclusion.
