Alice Munro has been received little attention from Chinese researchers before she awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2013. Comparatively, the study about her novel is at mature stage abroad. Most writings of Munro are short stories and the leading characters in her works are women living in small town. Munro give full attention to the growth of characters, including each stage of life—childhood, adolescence, adulthood and older age. Munro is especially good at women’s daily life. By means of love’s pursuit, Resistance to life, Construction of self-identity, reflecting on seemingly natural behavior and psychology, the works probes into the deep imprint of women’s growth in present social order, revealing the real society and the implied tragedy in women’s destiny.This thesis is based on textual analysis, analyzing the feminine image in Munro’s novels to, who how to grow, how to persistent and how to compromise. This paper is divided into five parts; the first part is the introduction which introduces Munro’s life, works and research status on the related areas in China and abroad. The second part makes an arrangement of development process of initiation story and analysis of salience of women initiation theme. In the third part, the paper summarizes the entire feminine image. By listing the growth of women of all ages and aspects, this paper researches deeply the trouble and metamorphosis of growth of women in her works. The fourth part of this paper is the metaphor of the initiation themes, which include self-growth and modest feminism in Munro’s works. Part five is the conclusion which further proposes the hints and thinking on real life and literature research from Munro’s works.
