Bel Canto has its origins in Italy early in the 17 th century, and precise divisions of voice partition were scientifically developed after centuries of development and evolution. With the decline of castrotos in the 18 th century, lyric soprano became the center of gravity of the stage. Many vocal works by the talented opera composers were written for the lyric sopranos, which later weredeveloped into four types: lyric soprano, soubrette soprano, spinto soprano, lyric coloratura soprano. These four types have different voice characteristics and corresponding characters, which can fit different roles in operas. Thus, a deep recognition of the four types has a vital significance to the vocal learners. And only with the clear understanding of own voice type, can the proper works and suitable role be chosen.In this paper, four types of lyric sopranos are individually introduced by characteristic, opera roles, vocal player examples naming and proper usage analyzing. The full content is divided into four chapters: in chapter one, the general information of four types of player are introduced, including the historical origin, the role characteristics, and the tone features; in chapter two, the roles and the opera stories are introduced briefly; in chapter three, typical singers for each type are introduced; and in the last chapter, detailed analysis of performance of four types are studied based on joyful and sorrow feelings division.
