After the coup of18September1988the Myanmar military junta came topower, the United States began to implement the policy of diplomatic isolation andeconomic sanctions on Myanmar. Since the administration of President Obamacame to power, the United States announced to "return" to Southeast Asiaimmediately with a breakthrough of improving relations with Myanmar. At thesame time, in order to achieve a stable environment for development, Myanmaralso intends to ease relations with the United States. Since each takes what isneeded, U.S.-Myanmar relationship continues to heat up and receive greatconcerns from all circles. China should pay great attention to the movements ofU.S.-Myanmar relationship because of the great significance of Myanmar andcarry out appropriate policies on the change of U.S.-Myanmar relationship tomaintain Chinese interests in Myanmar and enhanced the good-neighborly andfriendly cooperation relations between China and Myanmar.
