A Study On The Employment Of Migrant Workers

Along with China’s economic development and urbanization progresses, a largenumber of farmers in agricultural industry shifted into urban employment whicheventually leads to inevitable development of history. Migrant workers in China are anew type of labor force which are emerging in the process of reform and opening upas well as the industrialization and urbanization. In the process of promoting theintegration of urban and rural areas, migrant workers show a variety of forms and areincreasingly becoming the focus of the government and academia. With theintroduction of policy on national security interests of migrant workers, the plight ofmigrant workers has been improved, but there are still some undeniable issues to befurther addressed. Employment is people’s survival and development foundationwhich is related to the vital interests of the broadest masses of the top priority.Meanwhile, employment is a crucial way for migrant workers to participate in sociallife and to maintain the dignity of the individual. Issues related to the employment ofmigrant workers may influence the wealth growth of farmers, economic developmentand social stability. Achieve equal employment of migrant workers will be oneimportant step to achieve social justice and to build a harmonious society. Solving theproblem of employment of migrant workers becomes the key to solving the problemsof migrant workers.In this paper, the author analyzes the problem of employment of migrant workersbased on the related theory of knowledge and the Statistics data from National Bureau.The purpose is to discover the new issues so as to provide some information on policysupport and theoretical reference. This paper mainly discusses from four parts. Thefirst part focuses on the theoretical explanations on employment of migrant workersso as to clarify the employment of migrant workers on the related concepts. Thesecond part describes the situation of the employment of migrant workers and theplight they face against. With the development of economic and the promotion ofurbanization, the employment of migrant workers has been confronted with a series ofnew problems which to some extent hinder the harmonious society. Based on thesecond part, the third part has a detailed analysis of the current plight of migrantworkers faced in employment from the economic, institutional, government functions, training, legal protection angles which will be helpful to address the problem ofemployment of migrant workers. The last part of the article has provided somemethod and strategies from multiple perspectives of economic development, gettingrid of urban-rural dual structure of institutional barriers, improving the functions ofthe government to strengthen education and training, and other aspects of the legalsystem, so as to protect the employment of migrant workers and to solve the problem.The end purpose is to further enhance the living standards of migrant workers and toachieve social harmony and stability.
